Private Victory

“…overwhelming victory is ours through Christ…” – Romans 8:37 (NLT)

It has happened yet again!

They’ve rubbed you the wrong way. You’ve let it go many times before.

This time will not be the same…

You’ll fix their business once and for all…

“I am not foolish; I’ll show it to all.

This is no joke; there’s going to be a brawl.”

Set for the onslaught, you initiate your request,

“Ten minutes, Lord and I’ll settle this…”

“Halt!” you heard from a still soft voice…

“No! Not again!” you contend, “they’re getting away once again!”

“Leave it to Me”! Repeated the still, soft voice.

“It’s not your battle! Walk away! Make the right choice.”

Distraught by the way things are turning out to be…

“Holy Spirit, why won’t You just let me be?”

“I love you too much for Me to allow you to be

Robbed of a victorious life, gambling eternity.

The anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Choose peace, be still; it’s not your matter anymore.

I am God Almighty, your closest Friend

Addressing your cause time and time again…

Be still, my love, be quiet for now

In time, you’ll share what private victory is all about.

Many times, we face circumstances like these,

Struggling each day not to let the flesh be.

Halted in the way by our Saviour divine

He just wouldn’t let us cross that thin line.

Salvation is too valuable, flowing from the Blood of Jesus so free.

Hold your peace! Take a breath! Relax! Dear one,

Your private victory comes from your humble submission.

Our victories aren’t always plain for all to see.

Sometimes, they come from battles fought secretly:

Strength through struggles,

resilience in despair,

Hope where there’s hopelessness

And joy in the midst of pain…

Choosing peace over war and faith over fear,

Not giving up even though the end is not clear.

A little applause for yourself, but all glory to God

Private victory has become your joyful song.

Sing a song, Glory! Hallelujah! For every victory,

Especially those in private, which many couldn’t see.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for restraining and keeping me

You’re shaping my life to enjoy many more private victories!
